Purpose -built for legacy ARL 240 and ARL 3460 Optical Emission Spectrometers, RcSoft combines a visualization-driven operating philosophy with practical insights gained from production laboratories and analytical environments. Developed in close collaboration with laboratory users, its intuitive interface streamlines daily workflow while providing clear visibility into analytical results, calibration performance, and overall instrument status.

The instrument does not require any hardware modification. Existing electronics and the ICS controller board remain unchanged

Integrated on-screen Q&A guidance assists users by explaining software functions, operational procedures, and settings directly within the program.

This approach supports user training, improves understanding, and promotes efficient instrument operation.

For example, to analyze a sample, the operator simply selects “Unknown Sample Analysis” from the main menu.

RcSoft Main Menu

The software database includes three levels of password protection:

Manager – Full access
Supervisor – Read-only access
Operator – Operational access only

Routine Operations - Perform operational tasks

Instrument Setup - Backup and restore user database, Instrument setup, and preparations

Utilities - Setup Results-export path, Upload and transfer WinOE data files

Instrument Profile

In an Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES), each analytical element is assigned to a specific channel.

The Instrument Element-Channel Profile ensures the optical system is properly aligned so that emitted wavelengths fall precisely within the required analytical slits

This feature assists operators in maintaining accurate optical alignment and stable analytical performance.

Analytical Program

An analytical program contains the defined methods, calibration data, operating parameters, and analytical settings used by the instrument to measure and identify specific elements and material properties.

Operating parameters are clearly displayed on a single screen to simplify setup and editing

Sample Analysis

The Sample Analysis module has been designed to support efficient and flexible analytical workflows.

Features include:

Run selection for averaging
Quality-check options. With or without Quality check
Automatic or manual for Results saving.
Print options. Print when the page is full
Result to Clipboard capture in CSV mode
Option to display less than zero as 0.0000
Export Results path setup in Main Menu, Utilities, Export Result folder, and file in CSV format

Print Result

The results are stored in the print buffer to minimise unnecessary printing.

Select "Print Now" once the page buffer is full.

Results Retrieval enables users to quickly search, review, retrieve, and export stored analytical data from the database.

The feature supports:

Retrieval with All or Average results, retrieve using filter
Options to perform Quality checks, Refine result, Re-calculate result, Export result, and Result to clipboard

Refine Analytical Results

Refine Results is designed to enhance analytical accuracy by cross-referencing analytical results against certified reference standards.

This feature helps users improve results confidence and maintain analytical consistency.

Compute Min-Max. - Select top and bottom within the analytical range of interest

Calibration with multi-curves

Program Calibration allows users to define and optimise calibration curve fitting methods while visually reviewing calibration point behaviour.

Multi-curves option with zoom crossover to accurately set curve transition
Easy setup for elemental line-choice when using duplicate channels
